Random Number Generator/Generation (RNG) is, just as it sounds, a process by which values are produced at random. Certain aspects of FTL utilize RNG, a good instance being scrap rewards, which room an enemy ship will fire at, or which room a drone will fire at. What is the proper amount of RNG for the game to contain is often considered a controversial topic.
