Random events can yield rewards in many forms. These rewards come in the form of scrap, fuel, missiles, drone parts, weapons, drone schematics, augmentations, crewmembers, hull repairs, delaying the Rebel Fleet, and getting the map revealed; some rewards provide system/subsystem upgrades, or reactor upgrades.

Rewards amounts[]

Scrap rewards amounts[]

The amount of scrap rewarded is determined by the sector number, the scrap reward tier, and the game difficulty. As the game progresses, the scrap amount collected is increased, and the increase is higher for the lower game difficulty. [1]

Auto-rewards[]

According to the game files stored in the data.dat there are several types and tiers of rewards. Most of these reward types have tiers (a tier will be denoted here onward by a letter "T"): Low (low scrap multiplier or low amount of resources), Medium, High (high scrap multiplier or high amount of resources), and Random (one of the other 3 tiers is randomly chosen). These tiers and the scrap sector determine how much of the reward you will receive. The reward types are listed below (the grey-colored text in parentheses on this page shows an example of the reward notation on the events pages, however, on the actual events pages these notations are blue-colored links except for the tier):

Standard[]

  • T scrap + low resources (2 random resources among fuel, missiles, and drone parts) + roughly a 3% chance to include a bonus weapon, augmentation, or drone schematic. (low/medium/high scrap with resources)

Stuff[]

  • T resources (2 random resources among fuel, missiles, and drone parts) + low scrap + roughly a 6% chance to include a bonus weapon, augmentation, or drone schematic. This type of reward is most often used in non-scripted (i.e. not guaranteed to occur) ship surrenders. (Medium/High tier - medium/high resources with some scrap; Low tier - low resources and scrap)
    • If the 6% roll for a bonus weapon, augmentation, or drone schematic is successful, the scrap reward tier will also match the overall reward tier rather than being low tier. [3] (e.g. the surrender reward in the Pirate bribing you for unknown ship event is High tier resources: if the 6% bonus item reward chance is rolled successfully, then the scrap part of the reward will also be High tier)
    • Ships surrender offers in fights with default rewards and fights with default rewards (Lanius) are random tier. A successful 6% bonus item roll modifies the scrap part of the reward to match the resources tier. (e.g. if a Medium tier is rolled, the reward will be: item + medium resources + medium scrap)

Fuel[]

  • T fuel & T scrap. (low/medium/high fuel and scrap)

Missiles[]

  • T missiles & T scrap. (low/medium/high missiles and scrap)

Drone parts[]

  • T drone parts & T scrap. (low/medium/high drone parts and scrap)

Scrap only[]

  • T scrap. (low/medium/high scrap)

Fuel only[]

  • T fuel. (low/medium/high fuel)

Missiles only[]

  • T missiles. (low/medium/high missiles)

Drone parts only[]

  • T drone parts. (low/medium/high drone parts)

Weapon[]

  • A random weapon & T scrap. (weapon with low/medium/high scrap)

Augmentation[]

  • A random augmentation & T scrap. (augmentation with low/medium/high scrap)

Drone[]

  • A random drone schematic & T scrap. (drone schematic with low/medium/high scrap)

Default rewards[]

Most ship fights in the game yield default rewards, and are marked as Fights with Default Rewards. Note that Auto-ship fights with default rewards (i.e. technically granting only medium scrap with resources) are excluded from this category and instead placed into a separate category. Here is the list of default rewards:

Destroying the ship[]

The ship explodes, leaving behind a substantial collection of useful scrap material.

Killing enemy crew[]

  • 3x : There are no more life-signs remaining on the ship. You strip it of useful materials.
  • 2x : There are no more life-signs remaining on the ship. You strip it of useful materials.
  • 2x : With the crew dead, you are able to take the fuel out of storage. You also take all the scrap you can manage.
  • Now that their ship has been emptied of hostiles, you search it. Eventually you find a prisoner who offers to join your crew.
    • You receive a crewmember with low scrap.
  • You find a weapon system on their ship. With no crew to stop you, you can install it on your own.
    • You receive a weapon with low scrap.

Default rewards: Lanius[]

Most fights against Lanius ships in Abandoned sector events yield these rewards. They are similar to the default rewards listed above, with the following differences:

  • Destroying enemy ship: high scrap reward is possible. (1 in 4)
  • Killing enemy crew: no weapon reward.
  • Killing enemy crew: drone schematics reward is possible. (1 in 8)
  • Killing enemy crew: fuel reward chance is lower. (1 in 8 vs. 2 in 9)

Destroying the ship[]

  • 3x : The ship explodes, leaving behind a collection of useful scrap material.
  • The ship explodes, revealing their cargo of unprocessed metal. You collect a significant amount of scrap.

Killing enemy crew[]

  • 3x : There are no more life-signs remaining on the ship. You strip it of useful materials.
  • 2x : There are no more life-signs remaining on the ship. You strip it of useful materials.
  • With the Lanius dispatched you are able to take the fuel out of storage. You also take all the scrap you can manage.
  • Now that the Lanius ship has been emptied of hostiles, you search it. Eventually you find a prisoner who offers to join your crew.
    • You receive a crewmember with low scrap.
  • You find a drone schematic on their ship. With no crew to stop you, you can install it on your own.
    • You receive a drone schematic with low scrap.

Surrender rewards[]

Besides the scripted events, certain enemies can make a surrender offer when their ship's hull is low. When you accept the surrender offer, the fight ends immediately (your weapons' projectiles and asteroids will miss the enemy ship, beams will stop; all enemy projectiles, already launched, and asteroids can damage your ship and crew).

For the actual surrender rewards, see: surrender rewards.
For ship-specific surrender chances and requirements, see: surrender offers.
For events with scripted surrenders, see: Ship surrender Events.

Slug surrender rewards[]

Most Slug ships, instead of a more common T resources surrender offer amount of which a player can see and reject, do not shown the exact reward offer. The reward is shown after the acceptance of surrender and can be any of these:

  • "Here! We have lotsss of fuel! Take it all!"
    • You receive high fuel.
  • They transfer a meager amount of material. "There... now keep your word..."
  • "Take it and leave ussss be."
